How we calculate this
Target R-49 is the 2021 IECC ceiling requirement for Climate Zone 3, which covers the entire DFW metro.
Your R-value = insulation depth × R-per-inch (cellulose ≈ 3.5, fiberglass ≈ 2.5).
Savings assume heating & cooling runs about $0.80 per sq ft a year in North Texas, and that an under-insulated attic accounts for up to 30% of that loss — scaled by how far below target you are. Payback assumes a typical blown-in top-up.
Every figure here is a good-faith estimate to help you plan — not a quote. Your real numbers depend on your home, and we'll confirm them on a free inspection.
